Producer
Le Grappin began in 2011 following Andrew and Emma Nielsen's five-year journey working with the world’s great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers in California, Central Otago, Burgundy and Yarra Valley. Their vision is to work with over-looked, under-appreciated parcels around Burgundy, Beaujolais and the Rhône, cared for by fantastic viticulturists. Now based full-time in Beaune with their new winery within the ancient town walls.
Farming and Winemaking
Andrew and Emma work with a fantastic group of growers for their Aligote, who ensure they get excellent quality grapes harvested at the maturity they're looking for; no overripe fruit here. The 2023 crop was grown on decomposed granite soils on the south-facing Les Enceints vineyard, 380 metres above sea level. The grapes were pressed without any SO2 and the juice was split and put into a mix of old barrels, stainless steel and some younger larger barrels. The wine is left on the lees for 8 months, unfined and lightly filtered with minimal S02 before being kegged.
