- PRODUCER NOTES
- FARMING & WINEMAKING NOTES
Gianni Storchi farms 3ha of vineyards in the Enza Valley up in the hills of Scandiano and Canossa. All farming is considered and done with the utmost respect for nature. Total annual production is only 7000 bottles and we waited a long time for an allocation of these wines.
Gianni Storchi is farming following Biodynamic practice. Soils are mainly alluvial, rich in clay and limestone with a high degree of gravel. No chemical weed killers, pesticides or procedures are used in the vineyards. Natural and spontaneous fermentations with no additions and limited use of sulphur. Neroduva is an 'appassimento' style wine where the grapes are picked late so they are very ripe and then dried or 'raisoned' on bamboo racks for 4 months. After a slow fermentation the wine is matured in French Oak barrels for 24 months.
