Producer
Frederic and Alexandre Chaudière are from a long line of winemaking Chaudières at Chateau Pesquié, situated on the lower slopes of the magnificent Mont Ventoux in Provence – where many Tour de France cyclists have come unstuck. The ‘Le Paradou’ range is the family’s latest project and is named after an old mill on their grounds, originally used for wool and cloth. The Chateau Pesquie wines are from the Rhone - specifically, Ventoux - the range of Le Paradou looks to Provence for inspiration and is all about purity, freshness and accessibility.
Farming and Winemaking
The Chaudière brothers now source their fruit for Le Paradou from vineyards in the IGP Méditerranée region of Southeast France. Working with dedicated growers, they aim for the range to be organic certified by 2025. The grapes are picked early to retain as much natural acidity as possible, which is otherwise easily lost in such a warm region. The wine is fermented in stainless steel at a low temperature with little skin contact, and then malolactic fermentation is blocked. The resulting juice—fresh, elegant—is a testimony to the family’s skill in the vineyard and the cellar.
