You'd be forgiven for mistaking Friulano for Sauvignon Blanc (sometimes it's known as Sauvignonasse). Green fruit, almonds and zippy acidity; makes a great house pour wine. 

Producer

Andrea Stocco is the fourth generation winemaker at his family???s winery in the Grave region of Friuli, a magical mountainous area in Northern Italy bordering Slovenia. Grave is known as the ???clone cradle??? as the rootstocks developed here support vines which produce fruit of great intensity. 

Farming and Winemaking

The Stocco vineyards are red soil with gravel, and the Friulano vines are planted on the bottom slopes. The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed then, after cold maceration, they are lightly pressed, fermented in stainless steel and aged sur lies for 6 months. The Friulano grape, formally Tocai Friulano, is indigenous to Friuli and is traditionally served as an aperitif.
